1968: The Beginning-Our Original Company

PAJA was established in 1968 by Peter Allatt and Jennifer Allatt under the name of 'Boat Windows'. This small company was located in Advantage Road, Highett with the purpose of servicing the boating industry with the manufacturing of boat windows and windscreens. 'Boat Windows' continued for 16 years. During this time a demand became apparent for 'bubble windows' and the early forms of sunroofs, which were constructed with aluminium frames and acrylic glazing.

1984: Expansion

The 'Boat Windows' company was sold, and PAJA International Sales Pty. Ltd. was established, to concentrate all efforts on the supply and sale of sunroofs and additional aftermarket accessories. PAJA established a sunroof import program sourcing product from U.S.A., South Africa and United Kingdom, to support sales in a rapidly expanding market. Sunroof sales increased beyond expectations, allowing PAJA to now safely claim to have been the largest distributor, with the largest range of sunroofs in Australasia.

1990: New Market

PAJA Automotive was established, as a separate division to PAJA International Sales, with the aim of distributing automotive 'hardparts' components. To fulfill this aim PAJA purchased 'The Carparts Co.' and set about establishing the 'Roadsafe' product brand and distributorship of 'Camelot' steering & suspension components. This programme was accepted with such enthusiasm by the automotive aftermarket that after just three years PAJA had expanded the range of products to have one of the most comprehensive in Australia, with the inclusion of driveshafts, disc brake pads, water pumps and belts. PAJA continued with this programme for 4 years. In 1994 it was decided to dispose of the 'hardparts' range and focus on other areas of sales.

1996: Further Expansion

In late 1995 PAJA was approached by TRW with the wish that PAJA would carry out distribution of TRW components. In March 1996, PAJA entered into a partnership with TRW Steering & Suspension Australia Ltd. for the wholesale distributorship of TRW's full range of steering & suspension components in the Australasian Aftermarket.

1996 also saw PAJA achieve accreditation to ISO9002, and become a Quality Endorsed Company.

1998: Growth

December 1998 saw TRW wishing to no longer participate in the aftermarket and concentrate their full efforts and resources on OE contracts. With the demise of TRW Steering & Suspension Australia Ltd. from aftermarket supply, PAJA established the 'O.E.M. Products' range of steering & suspension components.

In an effort to ensure a premium aftermarket range was also still available, PAJA pursued importation of Japanese manufactured '555' product.

With the O.E.M. Products and '555' ranging complimenting the existing range of TRW components PAJA's reputation as a steering & suspension specialist was established, with Australia's largest range of steering & suspension components.

2005: Australia 4x4 Gear Started

During the start of 2005 Australia 4x4 Gear was started as another family business to supply the 4x4 market with hose, filter and belt packs.

2006: Paja Sold

At the start of 2006 Jennifer Allatt decided she wanted to Semi retire, as a result Paja was sold to Roadsafe, Paja's oringinal steering and suspension range.
